Not only are Trances Arc some of the best popsters on the Atlanta scene, they are irrepressibly nice guys. You should come see them at an intimate venue like 529 just to catch a conversation with Eric or Micheal. Their album XOXOX, recorded in the heart of East Atlanta, captured our attention last summer, and we’re pretty sure we know it word for word. http://www.myspace.com/trancesarc
Nashville trio Oblio circle, pierce and entwine ’70s folk pop immediacy and epic millennial indie dissonance to create sounds that simultaneously comfort and jolt their audiences. Formed in 2004, Oblio (Terry Price, Travis Vance and BenJarvis Dumas) have boldly reconstructed their sonic palette after last year’s lineup change. Now, the Arcade Fire’s sweep bolsters Ryan Adams’ desolation; the Walkmen’s attack infuses Paul Simon’s melodies. They offer both eclectic recordings and incendiary live performances, and their invitation is one of earnest nerve. http://www.myspace.com/oblio
Finally Tereu Tereu from Fredericksburg, Virginia are making waves and we’re excited to get hear them play. What other band would list Yo La Tengo and Beyonce among their influences? http://www.myspace.com/tereutereu
All in all we’re looking at a Friday night filled with summer air, booze, and catchy pop songs. Bring your friends, and we’ll all have a blast.
