I’m sitting in the theater at 7 Stages. Several sound guys are at work placing mics and speakers, looking for cords. A family member is applying a fresh coat of pain to rafters. A band is practicing. The place is buzzing with energy and anticipation of tomorrow night’s performance. It was a year ago on May 29th that I first booked a band called The Judies. We’ve worked together ever since, and what an awesome year it has been. I am so thankful to them, especially Warren, for always answering the call and for playing their best show ever every time. I simply cannot imagine what 4th Ward Heroes would be without bands like The Judies.
On Saturday, The Judies are filming a live in studio concert at 7 Stages Theatre (1105 Euclid Ave, Little Five Points, Atlanta, GA 30307). The show is free. The Judies will take the stage at 10pm, but I strongly encourage you to get there well before doors at 9pm . The Harlequins (Cincinnati) will perform in the the lobby for the JAVA LORDS after-party, so if you don’t make it into the theatre, stick around for the private after-party which begins at midnight.

Artist to Watch Alert: Modern Skirts

I have been a big Modern Skirts fan ever since I moved to the ATL and stumbled on a show. They’re without a doubt some of the finest fellas a girl can know. Word is that The Skirts are currently at home in the studio in Athens recording a new 6 song EP scheduled to be release later on this Summer as a prelude to their new full-length album to be released this Fall. And they need your help! They recently posted some new tracks from the upcoming EP over at http://www.reverbnation.com/modernskirts. So, check them out! (I especially love Bumper Car).
