The Judies

“Simply stated, The Judies create pop music the way that pop music should be with catchy melodies, memorable hooks and traces of the garage rock you lived for in the ’90s. Once experiencing a live performance you won’t be able to shake front man Warren Ullom. He leaves an indelible impression as he pours every ounce of himself into each performance.” – Kelley Hagen, Metromix Atlanta

Oblio
http://www.myspace.com/oblio

“Nashville trio Oblio circle, pierce and entwine ’70s folk pop immediacy and epic millennial indie dissonance to create sounds that simultaneously comfort and jolt their audiences. Formed in 2004, Oblio (Terry Price, Travis Vance and BenJarvis Dumas) have boldly reconstructed their sonic palette after last year’s lineup change. Now, the Arcade Fire’s sweep bolsters Ryan Adams’ desolation; the Walkmen’s attack infuses Paul Simon’s melodies. They offer both eclectic recordings and incendiary live performances, and their invitation is one of earnest nerve.”

Deleted Scenes

“Birdseed Shirt’ is one of the D.C. area’s finest indie-rock CDs ever released, sounding a bit like the reverbed Americana of My Morning Jacket if that band wasn’t always lost in the Grand Canyon, or a more vibrant version of Galaxie 500’s gentle psychedelia.” -Washington Post Express

“Dubbed an Atlanta super group by locals, The Constellations officially formed when vocalist Elijah Jones teamed up with Grammy-winning producer Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley) to create Southern Gothic. Jones and Allen tossed ideas around for two years before finally recording. Now the band and its ever-changing line-up of Atlanta musicians is playing sold out shows in Atlanta’s most popular venues, from the Earl, Star Bar, Lenny’s, the Drunken Unicorn, and even Athens’ the 40 Watt.” For more info visit: http://theconstellationsmusic.com

Check out some photos from the very first 4th Ward Heroes show @ 529 on 05/29/09 courtesy of Matthew Smith:

Also appearing! Special guests, from SAV, DOPE SANDWICH! “Dope Sandwich is a Hip-Hop collective that has taken the city of Savannah GA by storm over the past years. What started as a secret society of MC’s, DJ’s, B-Boys, and Graph artists, DSP is quickly becoming the voice of alternative Hip hop around the coastal South East. This is due mostly because of the MC’s of the group (The Union of Sacred Monsters), Each of the 6 members (Zone-D, Basik Lee, Blue Collar, Righteous, Mr. Brown, and Knife) are strong solo artists and seamlessly blend together a collection of musical tastes and genres, creating a sound that is truly unlike anything in the music industry today. They own a live show that plays like a nonstop party, and truly have something for everyone. You have to see it to believe it.” For more info visit http://www.dopesandwich.com
