December was a busy month for 4WH. In addition regularly scheduled programming, 4WH had the opportunity to be involved with   three benefit shows in celebration of the holiday season.

December 3rd 2009

We kicked things off on December 3rd with Whynatte and friends from Esperanza, The Silver Tongue, Slush Fund Recordings and Vintage Earth Music to take over Star Community Bar to raise money for Marcus Autism Center.

this event made possible by Whynatte, visit them at their llama farm or backstage at a cool venue near you or at www.whynatte.com (Photo by Nikita Gale)

and the fine folks at Star Community Car, special thanks to Lynn Taylor for everything all the time, visit them at www.starbar.net (Photo by Nikita Gale)

Richard Sherfey and All God’s Children, The Back Row Baptists, Part Bear and Cassavetes joined the ranks and provided us with some great tunes and even better times. A great night was had by all and we were able to raise a bunch of money for the Marcus Autism Center. Thanks to my friends and heroes over at Whynatte.

Here are few more of my favorite photos of the event by the beautiful & talented Nikita Gale of www.nikitagale.com

Special thanks once again to all of the performers, to our generous sponsors, and to Nikita Gale for generously donating their time and talent, to Fadia Kader for all of her help and creativity, my sister Young Jedi Jess organizer extraordinaire who once again came through despite another 5 am wake up call at the W, and Veronica Yung of Mix Tape Atlanta who held it down all night in Adrian’s Lair. We could not have pulled it off without all of you! Thanks again! M.

Teaming up with almost everyone in Atlanta for Gritty Glam Squad, Naked Eye Image, Mindzai and Esperanza Present: Harts 4the Holidays at EyeDrum on December 12th was a blast.

December 12th, 2009

Fadia Kader is simply a force of nature and Travis Thatcher did a particularly impressive job at stage managing. Thanks to everyone involved and my heart felt thanks to the presenters for the opportunity to get involved. Special thanks to all of the performers: Hollyweerd, The Judies, Mermaids, Ocha La Rocha, The 54, FKi, Brittany Bosco, Mums FP and Scar.

We raised a lot of money for Songs For Kids Foundation in addition to all of the holiday cards that people made and all of the toys collected. This event was precious. Chilly-O posted some awesome photos. Check them out here!

I managed to get a few iphone photos:

I had the opportunity last night to visit Children’s Healthcare Pediatric Hospital of Atlanta at Scottish Rite – one of the many organizations that Songs for Kids Foundation works with directly enriching the lives of children in need through music – to deliver holiday cards and gifts collected at the event. We had an opportunity to meet some of the children and the volunteer coordinators. If you are interested in learning more or becoming involved as a volunteer please click here!

Good things!

And on December 4WH joined A Fight to the Death to co-host their Second-Annual Fundraiser for Atlanta Community Food Bank at the Highland Inn Ballroom Lounge.

December 19th, 2009

We raised a bunch of money and barrels of food, doubling last year’s grand total I hear, with the help of hundreds of people in attendance. The folks at the Highland Inn Ballroom Lounge truly did a fantastic job hosting us. Hats off to everyone involved especially Mary Collins from Highland Inn Ballroom Lounge the who held it down all night. I cannot tell you how amazing the line up was if you were not there, and I cannot take credit for booking any of it either. Those fellas from A Fight To The Death put the entire bill together. I rarely promote anything that I am not involved with booking and/or producing, but I knew it would be a dream come true to work with them, so thanks to AFTTD not just for being dear friends, fantastic human beings, and yes, easy on the eyes, but for honoring me with the opportunity to work with some of the best people in the business. And to Adron, Daniel Clay, Telegram, Kitty SnyderOld Custer, Blair Crimmins, Lera Lynn and Judi Chicago JukeBox, what can I say? Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You all rock!

#35/50 an exclusive gift from A Fight To The Death! Thank you!!!

Happy Holidays from 4th Ward Heroes! Good things!

Seriously, what will those Judi Chicago boys think up next?

Looking for that perfect last minute gift? Now’s your chance to blow your mom, girlfriend, kid sister, uncle, aunt, brother, great-grandma away! Last Saturday’s ACFB benefit put on by AFTTD and 4thwardheroes went so well, it gave us a great idea. For a donation of just $10 to the Atlanta Foodbank Judi Chicago will create a personal 30 second chiptune about anything you’d like, lyrics and all. Give the gift of Judi and put food in some hungry mouths!

To enter:

First send an email to: judichicago@gmail.com with your song topic and anything you want included. Once we reply go to the Atlanta Foodbank website and donation at least $10 online to the organization (tax deductible). Then forward us a quick email with a copy of the receipt (minus any personal info on it) and we’ll get to work!

We’ll deliver your song to you via email in mp3 format by the end of the day, Christmas eve. Please let us know first as there’s only so many songs we can make between now and the 24th! Also please let us know if you’d like us to share your song with the world when its finished.
